Japan sees record high no. of COVID-19 cases and deaths, confirms first cases of new variant

The COVID-19 situation in Japan is not any better.
On Saturday, the country reported a record-high number of cases AND deaths at over 38-hundred and 63, respectively.
Tokyo saw the highest number, adding almost 890 new cases.
Japan also confirmed the first cases of a new COVID-19 variant.
On Friday, the country's health minister said five people returning from the UK have tested positive for the new variant.
On Thursday, the Japanese government also imposed a temporary ban on new arrivals from the UK to prevent the spread of new variants.
