South Korea has announced it will toughen screening procedures for arrivals from South Africa,... where a new variant of COVID-19 was recently found.
According to the Korea Central Disease Control Headquarters on Saturday, they will be required to take an additional test when the two-week-quarantine ends.
The KCDC will also conduct a 'whole-genome sequencing' test on arrivals who test positive for COVID-19... to prevent the variant of the virus from entering the nation.
The variant has not been detected yet... but the government is still waiting for results from examinations of seven people who arrived from South Africa that have tested positive for the virus.
