As COVID-19 continues to rage across the world,... the Vatican on Thursday held a downsized mass on Christmas Eve.
Mask-clad and kept to a smaller section of St. Peter's Basilica, only around 100 people attended the annual midnight mass,... which, in normal times,... sees a turnout of some 10-thousand.
It also began two hours earlier,... at 7:30PM local time,... to keep in line with Italy's 10PM curfew restrictions.
Pope Francis delivered a message of encouragement, reminding the world of the humanity and love needed to "remove pessimism" amid the pandemic.
He also urged people to look after those in need, and those suffering during these difficult times.
