The U.S. will require people flying in from the UK to test negative for Covid-19.
This is due to concerns about a new, possibly more transmissible COVID-19 variant.
According to the CDC, testing must be completed no more than 72 hours before departure.
President Donald Trump will sign the order on Christmas Day, and the measure will go into effect starting Monday.
Quite a turnaround as the administration initially announced, there were no plans for such a procedure.
The decision comes after the emergence of a new coronavirus variant in Britain that prompted many nations to take necessary measures.
The new strain appears to spread more quickly.
The British Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
