The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.
That makes the U.S. the first country to greenlight a second jab.
The U.S. plans to distribute roughly 5-point-9 million doses of the vaccine to over 60 states, territories and major cities across the country next week.
And to promote vaccine safety and boost confidence in its effectiveness, Vice President Mike Pence received the Pfizer vaccine in a televised appearance on Friday.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are also set to receive the shots next week.
