1 In Hindu scriptures, many tales are associated to the gems and jewels, one of which is Naagmani or Nagamukta (snake stone).

2 The term Naagmani is mentioned in Indian scriptures like Garuda Purana, Rajavallbha, Brihat Sahinta and so on.

3 Vasuki is believed to have a lustrous blue gemstone on his hood, which is called Naagmani.

4 The snakes born in the clan of Taksak and Vasuki, are believed to carry this Naagmani.

5 Naagmani is a rare and very expensive jewel with blue, pale green or yellowish tint, that illuminates in dark.

6 Modern writers claim that this is just a superstition, under which people kill endangered reptiles.

7 They also state that the jewels sold presently are fake mineral elements called Chlorophane.
