How to Make a Sazerac - part of the exotic cocktails video series by GeoBeats. I'm Jace, and I'm over here at The Fifth Estate in Park Slope Brooklyn. I'm here to teach you how to make a very classic cocktail called the Sazerac. So first of, we're going to start of with our rocks Glass and its imperative to get this thing pretty cold. So we're going to fill it with ice and water, and let it sit aside while we build the cocktail in our mixing glass. So we got that right there. So we take our mixing glass, and we use 2 ounces of Rye whiskey. So I'm going to drop 2 ounces in here. From there we're going to take 2 to 3 dashes of Peychaud bitters, its a particular style of bitters. Like that. We're going to fill it with ice just enough so the ice is at the top of the liquid and we're going to stir to get it cold. Keep it about 20 stirs or so, and you want to stir a cocktail instead of shake it in order to minimize the amount of ice that breaks off into the drink itself. Next we take our chilled rocks glass, empty it out, and we're going to put drizzle of Absinthe in it. And I'm going to spin it with the Absinthe in it to coat the rim. And then when we're done doing that you drain the excess. So I'll drain that. We have our glass and we take our strainer, pour it into the rocks glass, and we're going to garnish it with a small lemon peel and squeeze it over, drop it in. Your Sazerac.
