The World Health Organization says it's resuming its trial of the malaria drug, (High-droxy-CHAW-ROW-QUEEN) hydroxychloroquine to combat COVID-19,... after temporarily halting research over safety concerns.
During a press conference on Wednesday,... the WHO's chief said the Data Safety Monitoring Board decided there was no reason to discontinue the international trial,... after reviewing available data on the drug.
He added the safety board will also continue to closely monitor the safety of other drugs being tested in its trial.
The malaria drug has been in the spotlight since receiving heavy backing by President Trump.
