Seoul and Tokyo met again on the sidelines of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership meeting held in Indonesia this weekend.
South Korea's trade ministry announced Monday, that its deputy minister for trade negotiations Yeo Han-koo met with Japan's Deputy Assistant Minister for Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Yasuhiko Yoshida.
There, Yeo reportedly urged Japan to lift its unfair trade restrictions on Seoul, as it could seriously harm the regional supply chain.
He added that Tokyo's move is a unilateral one that has no grounds, and is a violation of the principle of free trade and the spirit of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
Yeo stressed the need for a transparent system for free trade at the RCEP meeting, which aims to create a regional trade agreement.
