Lee In-young began his first day as the ruling Democratic Party's new floor leader today by meeting with his counterparts, starting with the floor leader of the main opposition party, Na Kyung-won.
Before the meeting started, Lee asked for cooperation so lawmakers can get back to work, and he promised to listen sincerely to the opposition.
He also asked for joint efforts to open this month's extraordinary session, which has been delayed due to political wrangling.
Na congratulated Lee on his new post, and expressed hope that this will be a chance for the parties to work together for the benefit of the people.
This was the first time the floor leaders have met since an intense row that started last month over the fast-tracking of key bills.
