The South Korean men's national football team saw a huge jump in the latest FIFA rankings after reaching the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup.
According to the world football rankings released by FIFA on Thursday, South Korea moved up 15 places from 53rd spot last December to 38th, tied with Iceland, in the latest rankings.
Although South Korea was eliminated in the quarterfinals at the Asian Cup last month, the FIFA ranking reflects South Korea's wins in all three group matches and the round of 16.
South Korea moved above Australia to become the third-highest ranked team in Asia, behind Iran who are 22nd and Japan who are 27th in the rankings.
