All is said and done about Arjuna's wife Draupadi but how many of us know about Chitrangada. Although her name was not publicized in the saga, she still had a great role in it. Watch this video to know who she was.

1 Chitrangada was the only child of King Chitravahana of Manipur who was praised for her natural beauty. She is mentioned in the famous Sanskrit epic called Mahabharata as one of the four wives of Arjuna.
2 According to the famous legend, once during his exile, Arjuna went on to visit different Tirthas. Finally, he reached the town of Manipur where he came across a mystical kingdom.
3 That’s where he first saw the princess Chitranganda and got mesmerized by her enchanting beauty. Even Chitranganda was impressed by the good looks of Arjuna.
4 Arjuna approaches her father in an instance and asks her to be his wife. King Chitravahana delayed in giving his blessings.
5 He eventually agreed on a condition that the children born to the princess would be heirs to the kingdom of Manipur. Arjuna agreed to the demand.
6 He promised that he would neither take the princess with him nor any children born to her from Manipur.
7 On these premises, he got married to the princess and was blessed with a son who was named Babruvahana. Later on, Babruvahana became the king of Manipur and Arjuna left the kingdom.
8 Chitra is a one-act dance drama written by Rabindranath Tagore, was based upon the life of Chitranganda.
9 Tagore’s play depicted her as a strong and independent female warrior who was raised as a prince and focuses on her love story with Arjuna.
