The National Assembly's budget committee is holding its final questioning session today,... over the government's roughly 420 billion U.S. dollar spending plan for 2019.
The conservative opposition is seeking massive cuts,... especially the spending allocated to create public sector jobs,... and the budget for inter-Korean projects.
But the ruling party is pressing for the budget to be passed as it is,... in order to revitalize the economy as well as foster peace on the peninsula.
Starting Thursday,... a sub-committee of the budget committee will get down to business as they cut or hike specific parts of the budget.
Several of the assembly's standing committees are also reviewing the budget in their respective areas.
