New Commander of U.S. Forces Korea General Robert Abrams takes office

General Robert Abrams has taken office as the new Commander of U.S. Forces Korea,... replacing General Vincent Brooks who has held the position since April 2016.
Speaking at a change-of-command ceremony at Camp Humphreys on Thursday,... General Abrams said.... the relationship between the two allies remains unshakable based on mutual trust... and that they will continue to work together to maintain peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.
The new commander faces a series of challenges,.... including... working on the upcoming transfer of wartime operational control and maintaining defense readiness amid diplomatic efforts with North Korea.
South Korean and the U.S. officials, including Seoul's Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo attended the ceremony.
