U.S. Forces Korea Commander General Robert Abrams will participate in the 2019 Seoul Defense Dialogue,... a multilateral security dialogue platform for the Asia-Pacific,... hosted by the South Korean Ministry of National Defense from Wednesday to Friday.
The ministry said Monday that Abrams will attend the opening ceremony as well as the official dinner hosted by Seoul's defense minister Jeong Kyeong-doo.
This is the first time the U.S. Forces Korea Commander is attending the event,... which marks its 8th anniversary this year.
Analysts say the move can be interpreted as an attempt to alleviate concerns over possible tensions between Seoul and Washington following South Korea's withdrawal from the intelligence sharing pact with Japan.
