South Korea and the United States have concluded the first day of the third round of talks over possibly amending their bilateral free trade agreement,... after more than seven hours of negotiations in Washington on Thursday.
Park Ji-won reports.

Meeting at the U.S. Trade Representative's office in Washington,... South Korea's Yoo Myung-hee,... deputy minister for FTA negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy,... led the talks with her counterpart, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Michael Beeman.
According to Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency,... the Korean representatives argued that the 25-percent tariff on steel imports scheduled to be imposed later this month is unfair.
The Korean side also asserted that the FTA's investor-state dispute settlements clauses need revising.
The U.S. side reiterated its stance that Korea needs to lower the country's diverse non-tariff barriers, especially in the automobile and auto parts industries.
During the two previous rounds of negotiations, South Korea also lodged a strong complaint against the Trump administration's safeguard measures,... such as high tariffs on Korean washing machines and solar panels.
The two sides will resume their second day of talks on Friday.
