Air quality has greatly improved across Europe over the past decade,... but research shows air pollution is still contributing to premature deaths.
According to a study conducted by the European Environment Agency, air pollution is causing fatal respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, especially for Europeans living in urban areas.
Saying a lot of progress has been made,... it added that some 400-thousand premature deaths have been avoided.
It cited toughened regulations, technology development and improved energy efficiency as the main factors that have contributed to better air quality.
