Study shows Atlantic Ocean contains more micro plastic than previously thought

A study led by the UK's National Oceanography Center has found that there are "much more" micro plastics in the Atlantic Ocean than previously estimated.
Scientists scooped through layers of the Atlantic Ocean... and found that there are 12 to 21 million tons of tiny plastic fragments in the top two hundred meters of the ocean.
The scientists say the findings indicate the amount of plastic in the ocean has been "massively underestimated"... because they haven't measured the very smallest particles before.
Their findings were published in the journal 'Nature Communications'.
