8월17일 임시공휴일 확정…광복절부터 사흘연휴

The South Korean government has designated August 17th as a temporary holiday for this year.
Explaining the decision,... President Moon Jae-in said this morning that,... in the pandemic, people need a short but valuable break.
I hope that it's a small consolation for the people who are enduring these inconveniences and working to get us through this situation for everyone's safety. I hope on this day that we don't forget about those who have to work at quarantine sites, those who have to work without a break and those who cannot close their shops or factories.
The Monday off will also make up for the Liberation Day holiday August 15th which falls on a Saturday this year.
As for the government's New Deal initiative,... President Moon called for active participation from local governments, which he said will lead some of the projects.
He said the government will revitalize local economies by creating sustainable jobs that'll lead to balanced national development.
Separately,... Moon also called on the government to seek ways to attract private investment in Green New Deal projects.
He specifically urged the mapping out a so-called private investment fund in which people can take part and share the profits created.
