S. Korea's exports down 23.7% y/y in May

South Korea recorded 35 billion U.S. dollars of exports in May,... down about 24 percent on-year due to a slump in global demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Monday, automobile exports decreased 54 percent and petroleum products dropped nearly 70 percent on-year.
However, despite one-and-a-half fewer business days compared to April, May's trade balance was back in the black, with a surplus of about four-hundred-and-forty million dollars.
Exports of COVID-19 test kits soared by around 59 percent and computer exports jumped roughly 83 percent on increased demand for non-contact services.
