An executive of Chinese multinational telecommunications company, Huawei, has lost her fight against extradition to the U.S. as a Canadian court said her case met double criminiality.
This ruling against Meng Wanzhou means a similar law exists in Canada and allows the hearings of the extradition proceedings to continue as Meng is arrested in Canada, and the U.S. is trying to put her on trial on American soil.
While she claims her innocence, Meng is charged with bank fraud and other crimes as Huawei was allegedly working with Iran in disregard of international sanctions.
She was arrested in Canada in December 2018 due to a request from the U.S.
