Stalled return process of Yongsan Garrison to resume next month

The government's environmental survey of the Yongsan Garrison... to determine the decontamination costs of the U.S. military base before its return to South Korea... will resume next month.
An official from Seoul's Defense Ministry said the return process, which started last December, ...has been stalled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
To speed it up, the ministry said South Korea and the U.S. have decided to shift from their blanket approach to proceed with surveying non-essential parts of the base that have been shut down or moved to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek.
22 U.S. bases including parts of Yongsan Garrison have yet to be returned.
