The global COVID-19 pandemic has reached another grim milestone... as the number of deaths has exceeded 100-thousand.
The U.S. is warning people to stay home during Easter weekend... emphasizing social distancing measures must continue.

Global deaths from the coronavirus pandemic have now exceeded 100-thousand... with that figure marking a 50 percent increase from just eight days ago.
Latest figures from Johns Hopkins University show the number of reported cases topped nearly 1-point-7-million worldwide... with around 500-thousand cases coming from the U.S.
Reported U.S. fatalities are about 19-thousand... one of the largest numbers of U.S. deaths in a single day... and are now the second-highest in the world... behind Italy's.
The White House task force on the coronavirus said Friday the U.S. was starting to flatten the curve... with developments in New York... pointing to declining rates of COVID-19 hospitalizations and need for intensive care.
Authorities are warning people to stay home during Easter weekend... saying these developments are largely due to current social distancing measures.
"So, it's really about the encouraging signs that we see. But as encouraging as they are, we have not reached the peak. And so every day we need to continue to do what we did yesterday and the week before and the week before that, because that's what in the end is going to take us up across the peak and down the other side."
An estimated 780-thousand cases have been reported from some 30 European countries.
Although Spain reported its fewest number of new COVID-19 deaths in two weeks at around 600 on Friday... the country is expected to extend the state of emergency through April 25... another two weeks of strict lockdown.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is recovering from COVID-19... as the UK recorded an overall death toll reaching nearly nine-thousand.
