S. Korea, U.S. open bi-annual defense talks in Seoul

South Korea and the U.S. start two days of bi-annual defense talks today on regional security and other pending alliance issues... including the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the transfer of wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul.
Seoul's defense ministry says the 16th Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue, or K-I-D-D, is being headed by South Korea's Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Chung Suk-hwan and and his American counterpart Heino Klinck.
During the previous round of talks in Washington in April... the two sides reaffirmed their alliance and said the inter-Korean Comprehensive Military Agreement signed last September contributed to alleviating tensions on the peninsula.
