S. Korea's 1st Vice FM summons Japanese ambassador over trade curbs

South Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister summoned the Japanese ambassador in Seoul this afternoon and expressed "deep regret" over the country's latest trade measure.
Cho Sei-young... asked that Tokyo withdraw its export curbs on three items otherwise, Seoul will take necessary countermeasures.
Yasumasa Nagamine... replied... that the move is part of a review of Japan's export controls, not a complete ban on outbound shipments to South Korea.
The ambassador pointed out there have been various problems between the two countries since last year, and called on Seoul instead to work to recover bilateral trust.
South Korea's vice minister, responded that Japan's explanations are inconsistent.
