South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will step up diplomacy in a bid to reverse Japan's export control measures against South Korea when she attends next week's ASEAN Regional Forum in Thailand.
Kang is said to have arranged bilateral meetings with eight foreign ministers on the sidelines of the South Korea-ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting in Bangkok from July 31st to August 3rd.
According to a ministry official on Thursday, Kang will stress the importance of a free and fair trade environment and call for Japan to promptly retract its improper export curbs.
She will also try to win support from other ASEAN member countries.
Kang has yet to set up a meeting with Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono.
