Nearly 1 mil. foreigners enrolled in Korea's state health insurance program

The number of foreigners enrolled in Korea's state health insurance program has reached nearly one million.
According to data by the National Health Insurance Service, more than 971-thousand foreigners, …including South Korean nationals living abroad, were subscribed to the program as of the end of December last year.
The figure makes up one-point-nine percent of total subscribers, …and is a 67-point-one percent rise from 2012.
The number of foreigners staying in Korea to study or work in 2018 rose by eight-point-six percent from the previous year.
Starting in July, the government requires all foreigners staying in Korea for six months or longer to sign up for the health insurance program.
