South Korea and China have agreed to boost their communication and cooperation to achieve the Korean Peninsula's denuclearization.
National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang met in Beijing on Monday with Yang Jiechi -- a member of the politburo of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee,... with whom he exchanged views on the current situation.
Moon is on a three-day trip to China.
In regards to North Korea's firing of projectiles over the weekend,... Yang reportedly said that, although denuclearization talks appear to have stalled at the moment,... he doesn't see the latest development having an impact on a broader scale.
Separately,... in a lecture on Tuesday at Peking University, Moon stressed the need for a phased and synchronized roadmap for North Korea and the U.S. to break the current impasse.
He added that Seoul has made clear to Pyeongyang that there will be no progress in inter-Korean relations if it doesn't give up its nuclear program,... and called on China to persuade North Korea to take the path of a normal state.
