U.S. President Donald Trump says he hopes to continue working toward the shared goal of North Korea's denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula, together with President Moon.
He said this in a letter of condolence to President Moon on the death of Moon's mother.
That letter was delivered Monday evening on the sidelines of the ASEAN meetings in Bangkok by Trump's national security advisor Robert O'Brien.
In it, President Trump said President Moon's mother would have undoubtedly been proud of her son for his efforts in building peace.
He also said that South Korea and the U.S. continue working to unite the Korean families separated by the Korean War.
