Special events and exhibitions in celebration of Children's Day

And to explain what's happening this month in South Korea, we have our Seo Bo-bin in the studio for us.
Bo-bin, what do you have for us today?
Hi Mark, the month of May is celebrated as a 'Family Month' in South Korea and on this month families get to spend a lot of time together. And, in May, one of the most celebrated day is Children's Day which is on May 5th. And to mark this special occasion, a variety of events are taking place in Seoul. Do you have anything planned to do with your kids on the day, Mark?
Nothing is planned at the moment, what are some of the events that we can look forward to?
Well, let me give you some details on some of the events that can be enjoyed by families.
Some of the main ones taking place are the 'Seoul Board Game Festa', 'Kids Rock Festival' and 'Seoul Fairytale Festival'.
The Seoul Board Game Festa takes place at the SETEC Exhibition and Convention Center from Saturday to Sunday. This is the 10th Seoul Board Game Festa, where kids and adults can enjoy around 500 different board games for free.
As for the Kids Rock Festival, this is in their 3rd year providing various activities from character drawing competition to zip lining and even a merry-go-round. And there's also a variety of foods prepared as well.
Lastly, the Seoul Fairytale Festival takes place at Seoul Children's Grand Park.
The park is themed under 'fairytale' presenting children with hopes and dreams and should give adults a chance to reflect on their childhood memories.
Since the month of May is for families as well, are there any other events taking place that can be enjoyed by adults as well?
That's a good question Mark. But, before I introduce you to another event, I want to ask you how familiar are you with Disney?
Are there any Disney character that you like? Or do you have a favorite one from your childhood memory?
Taking your childhood memories of Disney, another event I would like to introduce is a Disney exhibition taking place in Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul called 'The Art of Disney, The Magic of Animation'.
That sure sounds like a fun exhibition for all the family.
Yes Mark, the exhibition shows about 500 art pieces, including original drawings and concept arts, that haven't been shown to the public before.
Visitors are able to see how the characters were brought to life and also see the amount of effort Disney creators put in to the animations.
Families have been coming to see the exhibition and I was able to speak with a parent who came with her kids. Take a listen.
"My daughter is planning to study art design and since she's really interested in Disney, we came here to see Disney's unique original drawings."
"It will be difficult to study art design. I thought it was just about drawing itself, but there seems to be a lot of extra details, so I think it will be difficult…"
