KIndependence Hall of Korea lays on special events for Children's Day

It was Children's Day in Korea on Saturday.
It's a major national holiday, and kids will get the day off from school this coming Monday for it.
There have been events all over the country this weekend for children and their parents.
As our Ko Roon-hee reports, one of them... helped young visitors learn about Korea's modern history... while also having a good time. To celebrate Children's Day, Korea's flight display team, the Black Eagles, twisted and turned through the skies over the Independence Hall of Korea in the city of Cheonan, south of Seoul, on Saturday.
The performance dazzled tens of thousands of young visitors who had been brought by their parents to enjoy the fun.
The aerial extravaganza provided some unforgettable memories and brought smiles to their faces.
"I couldn't go out and play these days because I've been so busy studying. I'm over the moon to be outside on Children's Day."
But the event was about more than just fun.
Surrounded by historical relics, the kids had the chance to learn more about the independence movements that sprung up across Korea during Japan's brutal colonial rule of the country in the early-to-mid 20th century.
"The Independence Hall introduces many famous independence fighters in Korea. I'm glad my children got to learn about this part of our country's history today."
"Unfortunately, many people have forgotten about our past independence fighters,... including the sacrifices they made for our country. I want everyone to remember that today exists because of them."
"There are also plenty of hands-on experiences blending history and fun. Visitors can explore this C-47 transport plane behind me. It’s the same model that members of the Korean Provisional Government flew on from China…after Korea was liberated from Japanese colonial rule in 1945."
On this national holiday celebrating children, the event at Independence Hall inspired all the visitors -- young and old -- to have fun,... all while exploring Korea's rich culture and identity.
