1. Yoga Maya or Yogmaya was an incarnation of Goddess Durga, who is the cause of delusion in this universe.

2. When Lord Krishna descended to earth, Goddess Yogmaya appeared as his sister named Subhadra. She also assisted Lord Krishna during his birth.

3. It was Goddess Yogmaya who issued the warning that Lord Vishnu’s eighth incarnation will finish Kansa off through the Akashwani (divine voice).

4. Lord Vishnu at first summoned her just before the birth of the seventh child, to protect the fetus by transferring it into the womb of Rohini (Vasudev’s second wife).

5. On the auspicious occasion of Ashtami, two unique incarnations of Krishna and Yoga Maya had taken place simultaneously. Both the babies were successfully swapped at birth despite many hurdles.

6. According to the legends in the Puranas, when Kansa tried to kill the newborn, the baby escaped from his grip and took the form of fierce Durga.

7. She once again warned him that his end was near and then disappeared. She was also mentioned in the great epic of Mahabharata.

8. There is only one Hindu temple in India dedicated to Goddess Yogmaya, which is situated in Mehrauli.
