South Korea will send a delegation to Kaesong next week to inspect facilities for a liaison office, which was agreed by the two Koreas to be opened to better handle cross-border exchanges between Seoul and Pyongyang
Seoul's unification ministry confirmed on Friday that a team of 17 members, including government officials and civilian staff from Hyundai Asan will commute to Kaesong next Tuesday and Wednesday.
The team will perform an on-site inspection of facilities and equipment at Kaesong.
The visit comes after the two Koreas agreed to open the liaison office during high-level talks on June 1st, following the April 27th Panmunjom Declaration agreed by Seoul and Pyongyang.
Run jointly by the two Koreas from 2004 to 2016, Kaesong was hailed as a symbol of economic cooperation between South and North Korea, until it was shut down in response to the regime's continuous nuclear and missile provocations..
