Work on the inter-Korean liaison office in Kaesong does not violate international sanctions on Pyongyang.
That's what Seoul's foreign ministry had to say during a briefing on Thursday.
The ministry's spokesperson highlighted that the power generator and petroleum sent to North Korea between June and July are solely for the convenience of the South Korean officials who will be stationed there.
He explained that these materials provide no economic benefit to Pyongyang.
South Korea maintains that setting up the office does not violate any international sanctions and Seoul will continue working closely with the U.S. and the international community on the matter.
