Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is to visit North Korea for two days starting Wednesday.
It's the first visit to Pyongyang by a Chinese foreign minister in eleven years.
Wang and his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong-ho will discuss last week's inter-Korean summit and Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposed visit to Pyongyang.
Wang is expected to express China's willingness to hold four-way talks with the two Koreas and the U.S. amid Chinese concerns that Beijing is being bypassed on the issue.
The Panmunjom Declaration, agreed at the inter-Korean summit, includes plans to hold multi-party talks.
