President Trump on Friday repeated claims that it was Hillary Clinton not him who colluded with Russia and took another shot at Michael Wolff's new book.
President Trump on Friday repeated claims that any allegations of him colluding with Russia for the 2016 election are a "hoax."
"Well, now that collusion with Russia is proving to be a total hoax and the only collusion is with Hillary Clinton and the FBI/Russia, the Fake News Media (Mainstream) and this phony new book are hitting out at every new front imaginable," Trump wrote on Twitter. "They should try winning an election. Sad!"
The "phony new book" likely refers to Michael Wolff's 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,' which has dominated the news cycle recently.
The book, which reportedly includes interviews with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and former deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh, makes many unflattering claims about Trump and others close to him.
For instance, it asserts that first lady Melania Trump had been assured that her husband would not win the 2016 election, and when he did, "Melania was in tears—and not of joy."
Stephanie Grisham, Melania's communications director, was quick to refute the claim.
"The book is clearly going to be sold in the bargain fiction section," said Grisham.
