ATLANTA, GEORGIA — A 16-second video posted by Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta of shows a police officer punching a civilian in the head repeatedly during an arrest. The footage has sparked public outrage, with many calling for criminal charges against the officer.

According to the police report, Officer Quinton Green and Stephenson Camille, and another officer approached Rickey Williams in the downtown Five Points area on June 22. Believing Williams was “possibly preparing to smoke crack cocaine,” officers asked him to put his hands behind his back, but he began swinging his arms and kicking wildly.

Camille tasered Williams, but it had little effect, so Green punched Williams twice in the rib cage. Williams, who was jailed on the charge of obstruction of justice, is seen in the video being punched three times in the head by Green on the pavement.

According to Atlanta Journal Constitution, Green was later placed on administrative leave. Police did not find any devices for the use of narcotics on Williams.
