Tasty Trail with Benjamin S2Ep12

Traditional food of Andong, North Gyeongsang Province

This episode introduces the traditional food of Andong in North Gyeongsang Province, a region where the Confucian culture of Korea is still kept alive today.

Andong is home to many head families who still carry out the jesa (ancestral rites) in the traditional way.

A visit to one of these families allows a glimpse of the jesa food that the eldest daughter-in-law of the household carefully prepares for the ritual. Benjamin also comes across a dish called heotjesabap ("meal for a fake jesa"), the jesa food that is eaten without any actual rituals, and this reveals some of the ancestral ritual formalities practiced in Korea.

Also get ready for Andong's very special dish, the savory and chewy salted mackerel - a delicacy that was born thanks to the region's unique geographical traits.

Through the twelfth episode of "Tasty Trail with Benjamin" Season 2, relish the wholesome tastes of these natural and cultural dishes offered by the traditional city of Andong.
