Up to 100,000 Ukrainians protested in Kiev on Sunday, December 1, and gathered in the central Independence Square. They chanted “Revolution!” and called for early elections in the hope of removing President Viktor Yanukovych, who recently rejected an EU trade deal, causing political instability. The crowd drove a bulldozer towards police near the presidential buildings. Credit: Brian MacDonald/Nikolai Shevchenko
