Kenya plans to start commercialization of Genetically Modified maize (GMO) in June this year after successful field trials. Agriculture Principal Secretary Hamadi Boga says the fourth BT maize trials done by Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) will form the basis of lifting the ban on GMO maize with farmers expected to receive GMO seeds by the end of December this year if the trials are successful.
