Wales headlines 20 December: Welsh budget cuts and increased council tax
  • 4 months ago
Funding is being cut across the board to help protect the NHS and frontline services, as the new budget is released in Wales. Rural affairs are the worst hit, with funding for the arts and sports cut by around 10%. Finance minister Rebecca Evans blamed the UK government for a lack of proper funding for Wales.

A man who was found dead after an assault at a home in South Wales has been named as Daniel Rae. Police were called to a property on Princess Street in Treforest at around 8pm on Sunday, where they discovered the 30 year old’s body. South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses.

Council tax is set to rise across Wales as councils look to cover funding deficits, despite increased funding from the Welsh government. Some people across the country could be paying as much as 10 percent more next year. A number of councils have reported millions of pounds worth of funding gaps over the next few years.
