Wales headlines 1 September: Ely riot police van driver investigated, BMA warns of possible NHS strikes, pets as prizes banned in two more regions

The driver of a police van which was following two teenagers who died earlier on this year is being investigated for dangerous driving. 16 year old Kyrie Sullivan and 15 year old Harvey Evans died shortly after CCTV caught the pair being pursued by a police van, which led to rioting in Ely, which saw cars set alight.

The British Medical Association has written to health Minister Eluned Morgan to warn her that the organisation will be balloting members over industrial action. The BMA said they were disappointed with the outcome of pay talks and say strikes could be likely in the near future.

Two local authorities have become the latest in Wales to ban giving pets as prizes on public land. Swansea and Carmarthenshire put the number up to 14 out of 22 council regions in Wales which have it banned, with the RSPCA Cymru saying they want to see the ban rolled out across all of Wales.
