Wales headlines 31 August: Rail strikes to cause Cardiff disruption, rugby players to sue over head injuries, man dies after plunging into Swansea marina

Planned rail strikes by the ASLEF union on Friday and Saturday look set to cause disruption to journeys in and out of Cardiff. Those coming to the city on Saturday for the Cardiff 10k run have been advised to check the status of their train. Tickets purchased for strike days can be used until the 5th September.

Over 100 former Welsh rugby players will take legal action against the games governing bodies over head injuries in the game, with over 300 players involved in total. Players are set to sue the Welsh rugby union, rugby football union in England and World Rugby, over after effects of playing like early onset dementia and brain damage.

A man has died in Swansea after a car went through a barrier and plunged into the marina near the city centre. South Wales Police were called to the area near the Waterfront Museum at around 10am on Wednesday. Police say no one else was found in the car, and are treating the death as unexplained.
