The Garden Report gives their reaction to Evan Fournier being traded to the Boston Celtics. He was acquired at the trade deadline for two second-round picks.
This deal breaks a near six year drought of the Celtics not making a significant move at the deadline. The last player they acquired was none other than Isaiah Thomas back in 2015. Danny Ainge had been in talks with the Orlando Magic all week.
Fournier should provide some solid scoring for the Celtics. This along with his elite shooting ability is what most fans are excited for. Fournier is averaging 19.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this season. He is also shooting 46.1% from the field and 38.8% from deep. He is also attempting a career-high 7.2 threes a game.
Although Ainge was unable to complete a deal for Aaron Gordon, the day is not over. With Fournier coming to town the Celtics will have to free up a roster spot for him. He will take up a large portion of the Gordon Hayward trade exception.
