Health experts and diplomats from Northeast Asia and the U.S. have gathered online to discuss the battle against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
Seoul's foreign ministry said it held a meeting on Tuesday to prepare for the launch of the 'Northeast Asia Cooperation Initiative for Infectious Disease Control and Public Health',... which was proposed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the UN General Assembly in September.
Diplomats and health experts from South Korea, the U.S., China, Japan, Russia and Mongolia took part in the meeting.
South Korean foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha said in the welcoming remarks that she hopes that North Korea will also join the initiative in the near future.
