In a major step in the global battle against the pandemic... the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca has been approved for emergency use in the UK.
The vaccine received its first ever approval after the UK government accepted the recommendation from the country's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
The UK has ordered 100 million doses of the vaccine enough to inoculate up to 50 million people.
The shot is expected to be rolled out next week and the bio-giant aims to meet the supply by the first quarter.
AstraZeneca expects the vaccine to still be effective against the new, more contagious COVID-19 variant.
South Korea signed a contract for the AstraZeneca shot last month, securing enough for 10 million people.
Those doses are expected to arrive around February.
