South Korea has the potential to play a consequential role in advancing America's Indo-Pacific vision.
That's according to a report by the Center for a New American Security which offers advice to the incoming Biden administration to position Seoul to address geopolitical risks in Northeast Asia.
Arguing the new administration should find common ground between Seoul's New Southern Policy and Washington's Indo-Pacific vision, the think tank said Washington should rethink the use of its forces on the Korean Peninsula so that they can serve as more than just a land-based deterrent against North Korea.
The CNAS was co-founded by Michele Flournoy who is deemed a top contender for President-elect Biden's defense secretary.
