The secretary-general of the UN, Antonio Guterres has pointed out that North Korea's defense against the pandemic is worsening the food shortage in the country.
Voice of America reported on Saturday.
The secretary-general claims in his UN report that with North Korea shutting its borders and implementing strict prevention measures,... the transportation of supplies has been cut off, and humanitarian assistance is near impossible.
Even UN officials deployed in the North are only a quarter of the usual number.
The Economic Research Institute under the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that almost 60-percent of North Korea's population will be facing a food crisis by the end of this year.
