The World Health Organization says North Korea had tested one-thousand-211 people for COVID-19 as of July 16th and the regime claims all of them were negative.
Edwin Salvador, the representative of the WHO office in Pyeongang, said Wednesday that there are 696 people in quarantine.
However, the number of tested and quarantined jumped by nearly a hundred within the space of a week.
Salvador said this was due to the regime's strengthened monitoring due to the recent uptick of cases in China.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un put the North on a "maximum emergency system" on Saturday in response to a defector returning to North Korea from South Korea with symptoms.
