The EU's General Court has overturned a ruling that ordered Apple to pay 14-point-nine billion U.S. dollars in back taxes to the Irish government.
The 2016 ruling by the European Commission said the U.S. tech giant paid taxes with at a lower rate than average.
However, the European Commission could not prove the Irish government was giving an illegal tax advantage to Apple.
The Irish government says it has been clear that Apple got no special treatment and followed Ireland's normal tax regulations.
The decision could still be appealed within the next 14 days at the EU Supreme Court.
